Diagonal Stripes Blanket

We have an extra room in our place that we use as an office/spare room. It's great when people come to visit. We have a queen-sized futon in there. I already had an extra white comforter, so I bought some nice white and turquoise bedding to go with it. However, it can get cold in the winter, even with the comforter so I thought it would be nice to crochet a nice big blanket that matches the funton and the pillows. I've been working on the blanket for a few weeks now and finally finished. I didn't realize taking on a queen sized blanket would take so much yarn. I new it would take a lot but wasn't quite expecting 14 skeins.

I got the original pattern out of my favorite Leisure Arts Book Contest Favorites 40 Afghans to Crochet. I'm not going to put the pattern here because of possible copyright issues, but I will say that it was made using a diagonal block stitch and I made it much, much bigger that the pattern.  I also did my own edging because I wasn't i n love with the one in the pattern. For my edging in 2 rounds. Round 1: sc around. Round 2: [Sc, ch1] in back loop only of each sc. For the colors I use Red Heart Super Saver yarn; White, Aruba Sea, and Earth & Sky.

I really like the texture that the diagonal block stitching made, and I like the mild zig zag feel that the edging has.  I think it turned out pretty great.

I'm sorry, but I've turned word verification on again. I hate trying to decipher the words just as much as anyone, but I'm getting way too much spam. I tried doing comment moderation as people suggested but the number or spam comments I had to sift through was ridiculous. I appreciate your comments and didn't want them to get lost among the spam. Hopefully, I can reduce the amount of spam and turn the word verification off soon.
